    Leather Care

    How to clean leather

    General Info:

1.Do not store leather goods in plastic bags or other nonporous covers which will prevent them from breathing and can cause mildew.

2.Allow wet or damp leather to air-dry naturally, far from any source of heat.

    3. Promptly remove any salt deposits (which can form especially in winter) by wiping with a moistened cloth or sponge. Once the item is dry you may apply a little conditioner or saddle soap.

    4. To prevent mildew, protect leather from excessive humidity.

    5) In a dry environment use from time to time a leather conditioner or saddle soap (in very small quantities) to prevent leather from drying and cracking.

    6. Do not use waxes, silicone or other leather preparations that will impair the ability of the leather to breathe.

    7. Never use caustic household chemicals to clean leather.

8.Avoid leather preparations that contain alcohol.

    9. Aviod turpentine and mineral spirits which can cause colours to fade or bleed.

    10. Use of oils or other animal fats will darken leather. These can also turn rancid causing the leather to rot.

    Clothing:
    1. Always hang leather coats and jackets on wide padded hangers.
    2. Hang your garments in dry and aerated spaces and do not use plastic garment bags: leather must breathe!
3.Areas such as cuffs and collars can be subject to perfume and perspiration stains: such stains should be removed as soon as possible. If saddle soap does not work you must seek the help of a professional dry cleaner.

4.Suede/Antelope leather should be cleaned by brushing gently with a soft brush or appropriate para-rubber pad. It is advisable not to use saddle soap.

5.Please remember that leather garments should not be exposed to strong lights for long periods since this could cause variationsin colour. It cannot be therefore guaranteed that under such conditions colours will stay fast no matter how good the tanning process might have been. Moreover no responsibility can be undertaken by the manufacturer for damages caused by mishandling through improper cleaning and/or washing processes.

    6. Raindrops can cause spots to appear on garments: such spots can be easily removed by rubbing the skin surface onitself or wiping it with a cloth once the garment is completely dry (remember not to dry close to a source of heat); please note that this natural phenomenon cannot be used as grounds for possible complaints. Also remember that though our garments are resistant to water spots they are not waterproof, therfore it is not advisable to use them as raincoats.

    Taking Care of Your Leather

Taking care of your leather product is very important. With the correct care, cleaning and storage, any top quality leather item will withstand both time and wear and you will be able to enjoy it for many years to come.

    Very important:

    Imperfections.

It is not always possible to eliminate small imperfections such as speckles or slight variations in colour and veinings, neither with the most careful choice of skins nor with the best tanning techniques: such features should not therefore be considered as flaws but evident signs that real leather has been employed.

    Light exposure

Please remember that leather garments should not be exposed to strong lights for long periods since this could cause variations in colour. It cannot be therefore guaranteed that under such conditions colours will stay fast no matter how good the tanning process might have been. Moreover no responsibility can be undertaken by the manufacturer for damages caused by mishandling through improper cleaning and/or washing processes.
